Ireland West...Shannon airport

E-mail Print PDF
When traveling to the west of Ireland Shannon airport is the airport to choose. It is located in a remote area so there are no traffic problems either entering or exiting the airport. It is also a small and compact airport and there are no great queues either checking in or exiting. On leaving the airport terminal building the car park is right there in front of you and you can be in your car in a matter of minutes. The restaurant there is great and you can have a really good Irish breakfast or go the healthy route and have a selection of options. Any time i am traveling, no matter to where, i try to use Shannon and for someone like me living in the west of Ireland it is a wonderful asset. Getting in and out of Dublin is difficult never mind getting in and out of Dublin airport. Long live the regional airports and long live Shannon. If you are traveling to the far south of the country then Cork is your option. This is another small regional airport and located just on the outskirts of Cork city. It is not quiet as accessible as Shannon but it is once again better than Dublin.
If you wish to include Dublin in your trip to Ireland and also the west then fly into either Dublin or Shannon on your way in and leave from the other one on your way back. Just make sure that you check the flight for any stop-overs as they can vary from day to day and you can avoid delays by picking your days correctly. I hope this helps you with your plans.

  • Travelling to Ireland
Picking the best time to come on holiday to Ireland needs a lot of consideration. Our unpredictable weather makes it difficult to advise anybody as to when they might enjoy sunshine but at least you can be reasonably accurate when talking about how cold or warm it might be at different times. We rarely suffer from really extreme heat or cold. If we go up into the eighties we are suffering here and we also find anything under zero very cold. At the moment during the day we are anywhere between five and eight degrees and at night maybe...
